Saw a demo in vegas, looks pretty cool. Need a newer version of AutoCAD plus speed draw, it is not a stand alone product. I will be looking into further.

We went to Chicago and did a full day demo with the guys at SpeedDraw. We liked it because it was easy to use and just as easy to learn for new programmers. It will also quicken our programming time drastically. The other feature we liked about SpeedDraw was the shop drawings. They are alot better then what we are producing now. We are in the process of purchasing it and excited to roll it out to our programming department.

One of the companies we work with, Stoneworks, here in Cornelius NC, are using it and love it. Stuart says the programming time has dropped 3 fold. This is mostly due to the fact, from my limited understanding though, that the software automatically cleans your template files up, and creates CAM ready parts in a click of a button. This of course once you set up your shops parameters. Forgive me Speed Draw if I have over simplified it.

I did a quick demo in Vegas at the show.
The layout and shop drawings are clean and I liked.
For larger production shops where you have separate template and CAD guys, I think this would definitely be a nice uniform setup.
I don't remember the cost but know it sits over your existing CAD program.
So if you don't run CAD that's additional.

What was pricing? was it monthly? I know it sits on top of autocad, so that is a separate expense. Did you like the demo enough to buy it? I got the demo in Vegas but my memory of pricing is fuzzy.

$7500 - seems pretty steep for smaller shops - not sure if they've figured out a way to amortize that yet. It does look like really great software and they are working on a new version that has its own cad functionality so Autocad is not needed.

Heck, just buy the etemplate software and express system for that price and it comes with a digitizer

Or just learn Command "O" and Command "F" in AutoCad

Hello SFA! Thank you for the comments and the posts.

We will be in full force at The Coverings Show, providing live demos of SPEEDdraw! Please come by the booths of GranQuartz or Granite City Tool and we will show you all of the features & benefits of our software.

There is nothing like this software on the market and it is guaranteed to drastically reduce the amount of time if takes to convert a dxf file (received from any digital measuring device) to a final shop ticket and G codes files (even with offsets). In most cases, we can speed up the CAD drafting process by 75%.

If you have questions and will not be able to visit us at Coverings, please email me at Geoffrey@speeddrawctop.com.

All the best,

Geoffrey Gran

Alphacam is a good product but I hate the yeariy doom and gloom emails they send me.

Just had a demo yesterday. It will save sometime cleaning up files, labeling parts and printing tickets, etc. You have to have the right set up for the gcode function to work... You need a sawjet and a Park CNC. If you have a Northwood milling machine it will not work. If you are using a cnc saw your parts off the saw are not clean enough (ie, radius corners, sink cut-outs etc) for the gcode function to work (this is my limited understanding).

I've been quoted at $400 per month. You will also need auto cad on your computer which is about $1,400/yr.

There is certainly value in this if you are producing a certain volume and have the kind of equipment that can take advantage of it.

So to clarify it only hand shakes with ACAD? And seems rather than flat rate cost now it is subscription based?

I send a demo request on http://speeddraw.net three weeks ago and never got a response. I hope I can get more information soon because my boss is asking me to test this and see if Speed draw is a viable solution for us.

If anyone is willing to give me a quick rundown I'd really appreciate it.

Best,
Anthony
