Hey guys I just had a question regarding the new software update for the 2-D 3-D. 1) can I use all the same equipment that I have already, basically the same laser, tripod and tablet and just not level it anymore? 2) when initially selecting the planes prior to templating, on a large multi top kitchen do I need to select my 3 points on different tops throughout the kitchen or just select 3 points on one top and then begin templating the entire kitchen. 3) does the "elongated laser dot" throw off the accuracy of the software detecting the plane that will be templated? 4) when templating over existing tops do I shoot the plane right to the existing surface of take other precautions to avoid inaccuracies? 5) would repositioning the laser work the same, just without without the leveling part? I'm sure most of this is me just over thinking it but I figured better safe than sorry. Also, if one of the laser product people come across this and would just like to email me that's fine too or PM me and I can give you my cell and we can talk that way. Thanks for the help.

Re: LT 2d3d update
1. Can I use all the same equipment that I have already, basically the same laser, tripod and tablet and just not level it anymore?
Yes. With the older LT-2D3D model, we use the fact that the laser is level to establish a plane. By switching to the Set Plan function in Settings, you will be prompted to set a plane before taking measurements. The first three points you take will create a plane, everything you measure following that on the page will be collapsed to that plane in the same way your Laser currently does.
2. When initially selecting the planes prior to templating, on a large multi top kitchen do I need to select my 3 points on different tops throughout the kitchen or just select 3 points on one top and then begin templating the entire kitchen.
If the cabinets are all in the same plane which could be checked by a crossline laser (shameless plug: http://laserproductsus.com/store/shop/l ... rossliner/), you could hit any three points on the cabinets. Depending on how well they were installed though and if shims are used, it might be smarter to use a separate page for each set of cabinets.
3. Does the "elongated laser dot" throw off the accuracy of the software detecting the plane that will be templated?
As long as the elongated dot is not more than 1” in size, the sensor on the laser will detect the correct measurements within ± 1/16” (usually it is much tighter than that though). This has been strenuously tested to ensure these measurements are correct at that size of elongated dot.
4. When templating over existing tops do I shoot the plane right to the existing surface of take other precautions to avoid inaccuracies?
Because the granite you will be putting in will replace the old tops, whether they used shims or not on the cabinets, you can set the plane on the existing tops.
5. Would repositioning the laser work the same, just without without the leveling part? I'm sure most of this is me just over thinking it but I figured better safe than sorry.
While repositioning laser you no longer need to worry about the leveling part. You will take three points, move the laser and shoot those same three points in order. The three points are then processed in the software and automatically accounts for the plane that was set.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: LT 2d3d update
Thanks for the reply. So if I have to apply the function in the settings, does that mean I can set it back to the old way of leveling the tripod instead of determining the plane. Not to say the new update better or worse but the current way is working just fine...with that being said, if it can make it better than kudos.

Re: LT 2d3d update
I feel like this is one of those stupid questions. Can you walk me through finding the "set plane function" in settings? I can't seem to find any option for that. I downloaded the update last week and everything I opened the program I would get a window telling me about the tutorial on YouTube but other than that, I don't see any function.

Re: LT 2d3d update
When the LT-2D3D is connected to the tablet and the software is open, you will go to Edit / Options / Advanced. The bottom
will have two options, one for the original workflow and then one for the new Set Plane. You will change it there and then close out of the program. The next time you open it, you will be asked to set a plane when you begin.
Please see the attached screenshot.

Re: LT 2d3d update
Has anyone had trouble with the software locking up more now since the new update?
Also I tried to save text labels and they will not save after starting up the software at the next jobsite.
Anyone else notice?

Re: LT 2d3d update
Todd, you should be on version 2.0.460.0 right now. If not, please call our support department (630-679-1300 x1) and they can get you fixed up right away. There was a few lasers we have seen some issues with but we believe we have everything straightened out.

Re: LT 2d3d update
We have noticed it if the laser doesn't read a cabinet the first time, it tries again and then locks up to the point that the software needs restarted. I understand we need to to a better job at taping off darker cabinets and I have stressed that with my guys but it never locked up to the point of rebooting the software before.BrianStoiber wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2017 9:42 amTodd, you should be on version 2.0.460.0 right now. The best person to speak with would be Jared. He will be in the office tomorrow at 7am CST. He should be able to help you out with the issue.

Re: LT 2d3d update
Yes, you can email jwhitmer@laserproductsus.com or jnelson@laserproductsus.com. I would suggest including both on the email as they both take support calls throughout the day and this way, the first that gets to it will respond.
