So I'm at week 2 with my new Sasso K600 saw and now a digital, dust free (low dust) shop. This coming from a manuel bridge saw and fully dusty shop.
I wont lie. The conversion was tough, expensive, and sometimes frustrating. But I picked 2 companies that really helped me get through the process. 1st was Laser products. They sent a rep to train us on the equipment. We didn't implement it right away, so when we got our saw, we realized we really didn't know what we were doing. They offered to send someone back or come to their facility and train at no additional cost. We choose to go to them and they spent all day working with us to help us understand how to do it right. I couldn't ask for anything else. Even when we got back, and still had questions, they have a staff to answer question as soon as we called.
Next was Sasso. We bought the saw through Mark Lauzon. Never met him in person, but gave me great advise even before I bought it. Once we bought the saw, they sent Pete and Zak from Sasso to set up. These guys were great. We had some challenges, 1/2 theirs, 1/2 mine in shop setup. They worked with me to get them resolved. They even sent Clinton up the next week to make sure we were able to produce and understand the machine we bought.
Again, going digital from a manual shop was not an easy conversion. The staff you have, have to be retrained and you have to have someone to understand CAD or going digital. What I can tell you is the customer service I received from Sasso was exceptional and these people answered my calls and text at late hours many times. They always responded with a solution right away or many times, just told me what we were doing wrong. Between Mark and Pete, I blew their phone up many times late at night and they always responded. Never once complained.
The process for us deciding on who we decided to buy from was long and truthfully I met some great people. We met with several other equipment manufactures and in the end, choose Sasso. I am glad we went in this direction and my next purchase will be with them. Without going into detail, I can tell you we are producing 2 times the amount of SF, with less than half of the staff we had on the manual shop. We did have to dedicate one person to handle the CAD, but even with that, our cost per SF are much better and our quality is definetly has increased.
I hope my competition picks someone else, but I owe it to these guys to say, Thank you Laser Products, Sasso, Mark Lauzon, Pete Holmes, and Zak. Thank you for helping me improve all my processes and to help us make more profit, and improve our customer satisfaction. And last, thank you for listening and helping me reach our goals.
This is a hard market to make a profit in. But what I got with my purchase, was individuals that have run a shop, understand the day to day problems that we deal with, and I always felt they had my best interest in mind when they gave me options. I couldn't have ask for more.

Re: Going Digital and Challenges
Thats great to hear! I too am just going thru this process. I can honesty say i have been close to saying F it everyday! I decided to go with the breton worthy nc600. strong heavy impressive looking machine! That is for sure. A camera was not sent with this machine. It was ordered and just forgotten I guess. We were to receive 9 days set up and training. They did set up and 2.5 days training. They wanted to hold off the remaining days of training until the camera comes. We are not ready to use this alone yet. its pretty complex. I have been using the lt55 for about 5 years now, problems not on that end. Making it work and being able to remove the pcs on the table are the hard part. the saw probably will do what we expect just we dont know how to do it. I just spoke with my rep and the camera is being shipped via plane and will be here next week. im hoping the only request I had will be granted. I asked to get a tech back to use the 9days and camera install will be on their dime with training for that. it was not my fault it was not shipped. I went with breton for the reputation ,resale value and the number of machines in my area. Breton could also fit into my time line. park and sasso were way behind on the time line it wasnt going to work.. The tech was good just not enough time. im way behind on production and very stressed out. The other problem is you cannot use a incremental bit in this saw. You must buy a different software package to do this. We dont get our routers for a month and now we have to cut sinks out by hand or drill 7 billion holes. we havent cut out sinks by hand in 10 years. Im very disappointed on that part of the machine. even tho we wont need it in a months or so. Im rambling on just hoping that this is the normal transition to digit
