Re: How to scale a .dxf
scale factor is: if in mm and you want to go to inches then scale by 0.03937
if in inches and you want to go to mm scale by 25.4
if in inches and you want to go to mm scale by 25.4

Re: How to scale a .dxf
Also meant to add. There is a feature built in to Easystone for this purpose when you import a dxf. If you know the format of your drawing, meaning mm or inches, then in the top right hand corner of the import file box (once you have chosen FILE-IMPORT) is pull down menu with inches, mm, cm, m, and so on. When you choose the value that represents your dxf file's formatted measuring unit, it will convert automatically for you to what ever your easystone is configured in, mm or inches.

Re: How to scale a .dxf
Hey Nick I've gotta assume your using Easystone from everybody's responses.... So if your in Easystone and your .dxf is in mm and you want inches... Do a select all.... then click elaborate tab... Then Click Scale..... It'll ask for a Central point and this point can be anywhere... just click an end point or sketch a point anywhere.... Next it'll ask for a coefficient..... Scaling from mm to inches your coefficient will be 25.4..... If your in Inches and want to scale to mm your coefficient will be .03937 not .0397 like Camzl1 said.

Re: How to scale a .dxf
let me rephrase this even though it is long done.
I meant not a 1:1 in either mm or inches(thanks guys, I can figure out the mm/inch thing
). So I got cad drawings that were not 1:1, they were actually 3/8" scale, meaning that 3/8" = an inch in my cad. So the width of my countertops/cabinets were coming up as like 60some odd inches instead of 24 or 25 or whatever. That is where my .375 came into play, if something is 3/8" scale I could multiply that number by .375 and get a real full size number, but screw all that, it was just weird to make actual cutsheets for 7 vanities a kitchen and a laundry room like that, I needed no chance of error since I was cutting off of these .dxf files.
Sounds like what Brett suggested would also be a fix for variable scales, that is good info for sure, but this is the first time ever I have recieved a dxf not 1:1 in inches or mm.

Everything is relative

Nick,
If you come across another job like that in 3/8" scale, use a coefficient of 2.66667
3/8 X 2 2/3 (2.66666) = 1
