Does anyone use a waterjet for sink cutouts and or outlets cutouts in a backsplash. Most of the time the splashes we do are abotu 6" tall, but with granite its un-nerving to cutout with the grinder... thoughts anyone?

Swap out the angle grinder for a saw, the whiteout for pencil and tape, and sawhorses for a shop table and I like where the old school stone man is coming fromoldschoolstoneman wrote:angle grinder

Although, not sure how much skill is required to cutout outlets

Everything is relative
Re: outlet cutouts in splash / sink cutouts - waterjet?
It takes more skill to properly lay out the outlets than to cut them out
i have watch some people struggle to measure them out and transfer it to the splash

I did for about 1.5 hrs before it quit.
The grinder actually works still, but the switch melted. It's sitting on a shelf somewhere....
I use Dewalts 28110, they have been the most reliable. They are getting harder to find though. I had to order the last one.

I love the handling of the 4 1/2" and we do not cut with them, they are more finesse tools for us. I would have to say that, and the makita 2200 saw we use to cut with, are penny for penny and pound for pound the best machines on the planet, Just my .02 of course.

I saw that when it came out and compared the parts list. Exact same internal parts, the 5" model comes with a larger shroud and a 5" abrasive wheel.Cornerstone Granite Inc wrote:getting ready to pull trigger on one of them again , its been so long since we had to buy one of them Makitas i see now there is a 5inch

Buy whichever one is less expensive (the 4-1/2") since most of us don't/can't use the guard with stone tooling anyway!

Now THAT must be what's meant by "engineer thinking"! I'd not have thought of that. Basic genius there.Mark Meriaux wrote:.....compared the parts list.
