I would love to know what other fabricators are using as an adhesive for whiter granites and engineered stones. We have been using a knife grade poly for a long time with some success. The issue is that every now and then we get a seem that yellows and doesn't quite match well. I'm looking for the best, consistent adhesive on the market for this application.

John:
I ran into the yellowing problem on a white solid surface repair a few months ago. Chad at the Glue Warehouse told me that the catalyst in methelmethacrylate causes the yellowing, your poly is probably yellowing from UV rays. If you switch to methelmethacrylate, you can hold back your catalyst but it will make your adhesive set up a bit more slowly. That seems a small trade-off to avoid yellowing.
Chad sells a Marble White (off white) and a Glacier White (bright white) in 250ml tubes. I'd pick up one of each and mix them to get a perfect match.

There's quite a few epoxies that are non yellowing. Integra makes color matched ones to match engineered and any of the reputable companies have some sort of non yellowing. Cristal, akepox 5010, glaxs, touchstone glacier, and countless others. Everyone uses something different and just depends on what you prefer and the application. Most of this stuff is discussed in the members section and when everyone uses them.

Re: white adhesive for granite or engineered stone
For granite and ES, I would suggest integra or something similar, like acrylic or epoxy. I would save the Glaxs for white marble and exterior applications.

Re: white adhesive for granite or engineered stone
I get this question on a daily bases, with every Quartz sheet manufacturer out there trying to create a whiter white than the competition, it keeps our Lab techs very busy making sure we come up with a perfect color match that doesn`t produce a yellow or grey seam, which is what you get when you use the wrong adhesive color. Since Natural Stone, Quartz and Marble all have different densities, you can't use just one color to work with them all. Quartz requires a heavier pigment and marble needs more translucency which is why we have to carry many different shades of white.
To make the color selection easier for our customers, we have created a section on our web site under our Color Charts (http://www.integra-adhesives.com/colour-charts/). Just click on the quartz manufacturers or stone name and find the right match. We also have a visual guide specific to natural stone and marble here http://www.integra-adhesives.com/stonecollection/
I hope this helps, but if you require any further details give us a call at 1-888-862-6665
PS. UV rays will not alter the color of Integra Adhesives. Also, our adhesive doesn’t bleed into the material.
