Scraps of granite?

Does any one have any thoughts on using scrap pieces of granite for things?
The pieces that are to small for vanitys or anything else.

Here's some plates or candy dishes we made. We're not selling these. Only making them to give away for presents. Our crazy Egyptian installer came up with the lathe idea. Get r done. The white marble dish I did on our Mill 4X with a marble finger bit and it was polished by hand.

That grinder set-up looks a bit scary on the lathe.

Not worth going into production on - no profits with the time I am sure they took.

How did you hold them - did you epoxy the stone to wood for chucking? Good thing that's an old lathe - that thing is gonna rust away with the water.

The setup is a little scary. The lathe was an old junker that we fixed up. He claims he can do 10 plates a day. I don't know if he really can or not. He did epoxy the wood to the stone.

That lathe set-up does look like it came straight out of a Mad Max film.

That is very cool, but making plates on that thing has to be right up there with Alaskan king crab fishing, in terms of risk. The wooden wedge and zip tie setup is killer!... Literally.

You can come down and take as much as you need. Over at my fathers shop he hauls off 5 pallets a week full of scrap. Lots of comod colors, but plenty pcs big enough to make these kinds of items

I'm going to see if our guys can mount that grinder up better. It is a bit hoopty.

We've made some business card holders. They're easy. Take a small rectangle, polish 4 sides, and saw cut a slot in the top for the cards.

A real stone lathe would be nice to have

We make pastry boards / hot pads 18 x 18 and table runners 1 x 3 or 1 x 4 with ours

The rest we put on a pallet with a free sign and there gone by the end of the day
no charge to have hauled off
