Hi folks new here but looking help. We have a new intermac 30 3 axis and I'm trying to do some text engraving. I've use a pcb bit with a 60 degree angle but when I go to engrave 3d text it's showing a depth of 8.2mm . A want to be fit to do multiple fonts at what ever depth I choose how can I do this. Single line fonts are no good as the job requires a specific font. Is there a way to program or is the text size and thickness dependent on the tool size

Re: Icam engraving text
Only have to play with the tool length. If I understand your question properly.
Engraving depends a lot on material thickness you have to adjust to your material.
Easier to compensate with tool length then going back to change your z depth.

Sorry I should have said I'm using a conical bit so if I change the height of the tool it will be a different thickness and so go outside the area ?

Re: Icam engraving text
Well if you are already 8.2mm in I'd say your already pretty deep we usually engrave text at less then 1mm deep. The text will be more clear and crisp and you will be able to do it smaller that way.

Re: Icam engraving text
When you do it are you using the 3d text button of finishing ? I don't want it that deep but when I reduce the machining depth it leaves material in the middle. I'm guessing cause I'm further up so diameter s less. I just thought it would adjust itself to suit thickness of text

It will be a little more work but you could try a pocketing operation inside the text then engrave the perimeter.

Re: Icam engraving text
Yes tried before but then I'll have to measure the thickness of conical bit at depth I want and then enter that as my radius?
