Hello,
My company is upgrading from gmail/google calendar/excel setup to a professional quote/schedule/inventory management setup.
We are looking at Stone Profit Systems and Moraware.
We have more information (and like the look of) SPS, but haven't seek a lot of feedback.
We have seen here that many people use Moraware, and less information.
Does anyone have feedback about either one of these? or comparison?
Thanks!

Re: Inventory Management Software
I'd say you prolly chose well, as Moraware has many users here as well as a users room for members.
Don't take the no responses thing personal, sometimes it just happens, I've had it happen a few times.
People are especially busy this time of year.
Good luck.

Re: Inventory Management Software
Thanks for the feedback. So far things are going smoothly for moraware. One thing we are looking for is a form to relay all the information to fabrication. We can attach our digital template file to the job in moraware, but does anyone have any good templates for a form that has material, install dates, contact info., edge profile, sink model, etc. I drew something up with the form designer on the program, but my boss doesn't want me to 'reinvent the wheel'.
So i guess what i'm asking is, "what works for you?"
Thanks for any input you have!

Re: Inventory Management Software
What template system do you have
lt produces a shop sheet that you can have all that info in a pdf that could also be attached.

Re: Inventory Management Software
I am running the standard version of Moraware and looking at the upgraded version. Is the inventory part of it good.

Re: Inventory Management Software
Thank you, Cornerstone granite. That helped me a lot. I've got a lot on my plate, and that helped speed things up a bit.
So far, I really like the inventory part of moraware. You have to be meticulous with details, and some things you just have to do wrong at first and figure it out. So far the trouble is that I'm the only person 'on board' with the program so far, i need to get the office manager to make invoices so i can add the slabs to inventory, we finally got another computer for the fab center so they can start to implement it, the true challenge is our hardened old-school sales team. Right now it's me transferring their sales into countergo/moraware.
Transitioning is tough, but the actual program seems really good, as long as you're willing to put a lot of work in at first.

Re: Inventory Management Software
I know it's an old subject. Nobody mentioned using Slabsmith Inventory. I personally think that Slabsmith is the way to go when it comes to stone inventory.

Re: Inventory Management Software
We played with trying to use Slabsmith for the inventory...and we hated it. The "inventory" portion of SS seemed to be a secondary thought process. Not as fool-proof as what we were looking for.
Example...you can have material "types" (granite, silestone, etc). But there is no way to directly link those with an actual material. You can (by accident) tell slabsmith that Uba Tuba is Silestone.
There were some other small issues we ran into while implementing. In the end, we are leaving SlabSmith in our process flow for what SlabSmith is good at...doing layouts. We are continuing to use our in-house built inventory program for managing and tracking inventory.

Re: Inventory Management Software
If the Material/Name hierarchy is defined correctly, you shouldn't be able to accidentally mix names from different materials. In the Slab Manager, if I select Silestone, then I only see Silestone names in the list of possible names. Additionally, if I don't select a material, but scroll through the list of names and pick a Silestone name, the Material property will automatically select Silestone.
For the rest of inventory and the Scan module, we are continuing to add features to both the tablet interface as well as the barcode scanning, so we are always looking for ways to automate common tasks to reduce or eliminate error. We encourage everybody to feel free to call Bill or me with any feature requests.

Re: Inventory Management Software
Paul,
Thanks for the clarification. When I get some additional time, I'll have to call in and discuss this again.
Can you post here how the material name hierarchy needs to be set to make this work....so others can see if they are having issues.

Re: Inventory Management Software
Paul,
What is the latest version of the software and how do I get it? I'm on maintenance.
From what I see, the latest version you have is from 2015.

Re: Inventory Management Software
We are in final testing of 2016.12 right now and expect it out by the end of the week.
All of the setup for the Material/Name hierarchy gets done in the Admin program, so the tree you see in there for the description should be the same as what you see in the Slab Manager. As long as you don't have duplicate names in different branches (absolute black in two materials), then selecting the name first should automatically select the material the name belongs to.
It's a nice feature, but it was a bear for even deeper hierarchies. If there are any problems, especially if anyone can show us online, we can look at the behavior and the database definitions and get it figured out one way or another.
