Very interesting postings gentlemen. You both have valid points. I would suggest some boxing gloves and a ring to settle this

Funny you say that, but this subject hardly warrants anything like that. I believe that the SFA has every right to decide what is proper and what is not on their site. Unfortunately though, there are several commercial posts happening in many different forums, that for reasons I'm not sure I understand, are not under the scrutiny as mine.
I do not know how your membership can be educated on equipment, if those who know it cannot speak about it openly because they work for a company who makes it. On your philosophy of how a countertop should be seamed, or if it should be rodded, or what type of monkey grease to put on it to make it look snappy at install, I don't think you are less credible because you sell kitchens. There are going to be people right or wrong who disagree, don't like your opinion, don't care,
or maybe just don't like you, but none of that effects your credibility or in my opinion the importance of discussion on the topic.
If you will kindly look at the existing sponsor rooms, you will see the status of discussions are totally less commercial than what are all around, there are not passionate arguments leading to conclusions or solutions, and pardon me for saying so, they are kind of dead.
I'm not speaking for anyone but me, but you guys should know about technology to help you succeed, you should know it in detail, you should hear how one company plates it vs. another, and you should decide, the same way you decide whether to rod or not, whether it applies or is interesting to you. Information that is brought to you is often MORE imortant than information you go looking for, because part of the problem is your not sure what you are looking for.
The open forums here are valuable to you as members, and equally valuable to us as builders to learn and understand about you. The SFA is knowledge is power. By that logic, censorship is weakness.
This is not a brawl, but I believe you guys should get over the bit of drama and unpleasantness that can go on in favor of the learning and progress, and just try to articulate the rules so that people just try to disagree with respect. It's really not that difficult.

Keep posting, please. The beauty of this site and others like it is that readers vote with their mouse clicks. No one forces another to read his posts. Some areas of this board obviously get more attention than others, but readers ultimately decide. The view count speaks much more loudly than you or I or anyone.

Mr. Van Der Bas,
I would appreciate you directing your post to my correct name of Shawn, not Sean, which is clearly stated in my signature.
At the Coverings show you approached the SFA booth and were speaking with various people. I noticed your badge, extended my hand, and complemented you on your postings. What I am asking is the same respect and courtesy I showed you. The fact you took my simple posting , which was nothing more than my admiration of a good debate, and went on a raging tangent perplexes me. I am well aware this is not a "brawl". Everyone, including yourself, that has commented on this posting has a deserved and valid point in my opinion. I meant no disrespect to anyone. I am just a fabricator that wants to lean and share.
Respectfully,
Shawn Pubal

Re: Robocup #1 400 days 0 days downtime
the video is in the digital shop about 8 months ago.
I think that the premise of this post was cheezy. I also think Ger has a right to make a post like this and got killed on it for not really a good enough reason. I am not sure why it wasn't in the digital shop. I also think that anyone who makes any post is subject to opinion and teasing if you will (I mean seriously, a new machine goes a year without being down, freaking awesome
) but I think that in this case Ger got rode really hard for reasons I am unaware. I think the main problem is that when Troy is saying how awesome his Northwood service is, it is him as an owner, when Scott goes on and on and on about his breton fabcenter being the Jesus for small shops, he is saying so as a satisfied owner. When Ger shows videos of their cool stuff in the digital shop, it is cool, when he is kinda slinging a machine for a guy that is a member that doesn't post, it is Cheezy. Ger is beyond an asset to this forum. He is knowledgeable, down for a debate, and works harder than anyone to contribute and of course sell his stuff when he can. I just think that simple teasing would suffice if he makes another post like this, but I certainly think he has the right to make another post like this.

Re: Robocup #1 400 days 0 days downtime
Shawn,
Sorry I misspelled your name.
I very well remember meeting you and I appreciated you seeking me out. While I addressed the note to you when I used the term Brawl, it was kind of generic and I wasn't patronizing you as you may have taken it. I think I write and sometimes speak in a direct way that gets under certain tyoes if peoples skin. I'm old school in that way. I come from a family of contractors like you and we told each other directly what we thought and we didn't color coat stuff.
Maybe I'm not as great as others with the color coating.
Guess you can't be all things to all people, but my intent was not to have a debate at all.
I can totally agree that I probably stuck this in the wrong forum.
I disagree that it has limited appeal (the post count shows I'm right on that)
I guess more gingerly worded posts are not held to the same scrutiny, so I will try to work harder on trying to be more passive in my posts.
Hope you are doing well with your opportunity search.
G (and you can spell that however you want, just don't call me late for the BBQ)

Nick,
I think you are right about why Ger, posted this , ...
But this is also a double edged sword , just think if one of us got screwed on service with our machines , they could get crucified on here ..... And it has happened !!!!
I have nothing against Ger , should the post have gone in the digital room , or the classifides (sp) probably ...
Heck , from Gers post , I pulled up the video and watched it on youtube , Breton has a cool machine ,
I could ramble on and on why i think Northwood fits us better , but that is why this is a free country , and we can make choices .....
Ger , I think you bring alot to the table with your post , at least you take the time to post , alot of us dont ..
Im glad im selling kitchens , and not machines

Wrong choice of fourm, that's all.
Perhaps a moderator should just move it?

It was moved to the classifieds because it seemed more like a sales pitch, than technology info. I could be wrong. It can be moved anywhere. But where would it see the most views??

I saw nothing wrong with this post. If the moderator thinks it's in the wrong section, then he/she should of moved it. If not, then i guess it was fine. I've been on hundreds (maybe not that many) forums, and people post in the wrong sections all the time and i've never seen such objection such as this one.
It's not like Ger was trying to sell anything, he's just giving an update and review of one of his machines. It wasn't like "come and get this machine at this special price for a limited time."
I guess you just can't say or write anything these days without offending someone.

Maybe with all your vast and various board experiences you would like to impart some knowledge on the moderators here. Hundreds of forums may be the reason you have reached a whopping three posts here, Are you sure you are on the right board?

Re: Robocup #1 400 days 0 days downtime
I wish just one of my posts would come off as intended and pass as a simple update, information, or comparison.
I wish even more that my sales to clients here would be commensurate with the level of commerciality that are often thought of my posts.
I hope that it's at least entertaining to enough people that they might hang in and learn some from the rest of you.
peace.
Yes Curtis it's me. Not one of my prouder moments, but it's pretty hard to constantly grit your teeth and be a diplomat.
Hmmm....What will be my next diabolical topic to raise a ruckus on...?
Maybe patents, and why people get them, why they matter...And how people are damaged when others violate them?
Hmmm...How do you broach this topic without it being a sales pitch. What forum?

Re: Robocup #1 400 days 0 days downtime
Never ever feel sorry for me. I'm doing quite well. I have an awesome family, alot of awesome friends including some of you here AND I work for a organization who never sacrificies quality for popularity. That is integrity. There's nothing for anyone to feel sorry for me about in my life.
I'm always wanting to be better, to do more, be busier, and ultimately by proxy to add more stoked custy's. So far that philosophy has been working for me. (except in the needing a vacation department)
Anyone else need to see the new 3 minute video?
