Our plans are to expand our shop to a 2-3 kitchen a day operation able to cover the north end of Vancouver Island. Thing is we don't know much about the whole digital realm, besides that we have to master it to achieve our business goal.
If there is a shop willing to show us their set-up and discuss the thrills and pitfalls of going digital, we really would appreciate. We will be hardly any trouble at all - flying ourselves out, putting ourselves up and even springing for drinks and dinner or something.
We have no preference for machines, be it CNC, FabCenter-like contraptions or waterjet, as long as it is big and expensive and saves on time and labor. (Hate to admit it, but skilled labor is a problem out here...) We really want to pick your brains for all the info we could.
Up to now we have been an exclusively manual shop and posses the following equipment: a good bridge saw, a handful of good quality routers, and two highly skilled fabricators - enough to do a kitchen a day. Our business plan has taken a 180 degree turn (for the better?!) from where we thought we were headed, though, and we need some serious guidance.
If any of you feel up to guiding and advising a couple of total techno noobs, we would be eternally grateful. Please PM or e-mail if you don't want to respond on the tread.
