New to the forum but I have been reading your posts for a long time and really have seen some good advise posted.
I am about to fabricate a kitchen out of 3 cm Black Mosaico, a new stone for me. Just wondering if there are any caveats about this stone?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Black Mosaico
If you are referring to Black Marinace. We don't seem to sell much of it, but the ones we did weren't bad to work with.
If you're new here, I'll ask a favor to put your name, company info and location in your signature as a common courtesy.

Re: Black Mosaico
Thanks, I think we are talking about the same stone, it looks like rocks in the bottom of a stream. Differnt suppliers change the names to protect the innocent!
I think I found out how to add the signature. Like I said, first time I've posted anything.

Re: Black Mosaico
Mike - The only problem I ran into with it from a fabrication standpoint was with our CNC. Due to the "rocks in the stream" content, the amps would change drastically as te finger bit cut out the sink. But other than that it was fine. Neat stone to work with.

Re: Black Mosaico
I have never done black, but the green we did seemed fine.
Might want to watch hard and soft spots, like David said with the amp draw. This can cause for a ripply edge when hand polishing.
We did a couple slabs of the green before the cnc. We had an edgemate so the edge came out fine.

Re: Black Mosaico
Straight seams will not look very good.
Do you have a CNC ? If you do I would serpentine the seams.
If you don't try to put the seam in the sink in your shop with a 1/2 rod and split the granite in another location and put back together on the job. Our split seams come out invisible, perfect color and vein match.

Re: Black Mosaico
Straight seams are a nightmare on this stone. Black Mosaic is different than Black Marinace but a similar premise. What machinery are you using. We did several jobs in it with varying adges. The most difficult was the "Q' profile by hand. If doing this, have your more experienced polisher fab this to keep from getting a bumpy profile in the hard and soft matrix (only concern is in concaved edges).

Re: Black Mosaico
Thanks for all of the input. I don't have a CNC, just a very good bridge saw and Marmo 3500 router. I think I will try a test piece to see what the edge work looks like before I set up the entire kitchen. I pride myself on seams but with this pattern it may require searching the second slab to find a reasonable match.
Like I said earlier, I am very impressed with all of the information I have seen passed back and forth on this forum. My compliments to your members. I tried another forum but if they couldn't sell you a product, they weren't interested. I would like to observe just a bit longer before I join.
I am having problems tagging my message with my name, address, etc. Could someone send an email to me at DWE610@aol.com and explain how I can add it?

Re: Black Mosaico
We were a manual shop as well. Take a 1" sliver from next to the seam and play "Where's Waldo" with it and you can get pretty close. As for the tag line. Just go into user control panel and then edit signature. Put what you want in there and click save

Re: Black Mosaico
Five years ago? I can't remember what I had for lunch! Seriously I do recall your stopping by and I am glad you got your shop up and running. Chris isn't with me anymore, he blew out his knees (not lifting granite) and he has a severe alergic reaction to poly expoxy and silicone.
Maybe I'll stop by your shop on my travels through Indiana.
